Designed by a Japanese modder, this nice looking UMPC is based on an ASUS Eee PC 701 to which a touchscreen and new casing has been applied. It ditches the keyboard and loses the grams going from 922g to 760g. It even comes with a pen for the touchscreen and a slot to slip it in. Sadly not a sign of ASUS’ upcoming Eee PC UMPC plans, so it remains just a prototype for now.
Here is the upcoming Viliv S7 mobile internet device that looks like a combination of the Sony Vaio P and Asus Eee PC T91. Sadly, this thin MID lacks of a touchpad. However, the gadget offers a touchscreen display that folds back over the top of the keyboard. Measuring 8.3 inch x 4.6 inch x 1 inch and weighing 1.8 pounds, the Viliv S7 features an Intel Atom Silverthorne chip running at 1.33GHz or 1.86GHz, a 7 inch (1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen), IGB RAM, 16GB SSD or 60GB HDD, and Microsoft Windows XP OS. For the connectivity, the gadget features 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, WiMAX, HSDPA, GPS. Other features include SDHC card slot, 2 USb ports, 1 USB(Link), VGA output, mic input, headphone output, and Multi I/O for cradle. Its battery provides enough juice for up to 7 hours of continuous playback.
Raon Digital of Korea just released a new UMPC called the EVERUN Wibro. It has built-in Wibro module and enables users to get subsidy from KT and has a AMD LX900 processor and 60GB HDD. Korea is selling it for $849.
The Infinity miPC is a UMPC without a keyboard but that’s ok because it not only plays music and video but also records it, has a built-in FM tuner, supports DivX and XviD, and functions as a GPS system when docked. If you need to work on the go, the miPC offers a mobile Microsoft Office, can handle VoIP, Email, browsing and Instant Messaging. The Tele Atlas navigation software includes maps of the US and Canada with text-to-voice directions. The Infinity miPC features a 4.3 inch touchscreen, SD slot, 30GB HDD, 128MB of RAM and connectivity via USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi.
The WiBrain B1 is an ultra mobile PC that specially designed for the Korean market. The gadget will be available in the United States later this month. The WiBrain B1 is powered by the VIA C7M ULV processor running at 1.2 GHz with the VX700 graphics chip. It is claimed as one of the first devices utilizing a 1024-by-600 pixel 4.8-inch WSVGA touch-screen display. Its battery offers up to three hours of operating time. The WiBrain B1 features a split keyboard, a touch pad, a 802.11b/g wireless module, Bluetooth, pop-up web camera, one USB port, and an integrated stereo speakers system. There will be two WiBrain B1 models for US customers – the $699 B1E with 512MB of system memory and a 30GB hard drive, and the $849 B1H with 1GB of RAM, and a 60GB HDD. This UMPC runs Windows XP Home operating system.
Why buy a laptop when you can have a UMPC! Gigabyte has released the M704 UMPC complete with a handy sliding keyboard. Additional features include: VIA C7-M ULV processor at 1.2GHz, 400/800MHz, 128KB/128KB L2, VIA VX-700 UniChrome Pro Core, DDR2 533 768MB, WVGA 1024×768 7-inch monitor, 1.8 inches HDD of 40 or 60GB, and Wi-Fi! What more could you ask for? Accept maybe a bigger screen. But overall this is a good quality UMPC.
The F1 UMPC from Korean company UMID supports WiBro (WiMAX) connectivity. This portable gadget is powered by VIA C7-M 1.2GHz processor with 512MB/1GB RAM, 30GB/60GB hard drive, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, GPS receiver, Integrated DMB TV tuner, Built-in FM tuner and a 7 inch LCD touchscreen display (800 x 480). The UMID F1 runs on Microsoft Windows XP Home.
Sony UX490N UMPC has been released. The handheld comes jam packed with a 1.2GHz Intel Core 2 Solo U2200 ULV processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a pair of integrated cameras (0.3MP in the front, 1.3MP in the rear), a fingerprint scanner, 48GB SSD, 4.5-inch 1,024 x 600 resolution touchscreen and a GMA 950 graphics chip. Other features include built-in Bluetooth / WiFi, an Ethernet port, audio in / out jacks, an MS Duo expansion slot, WWAN support (AT&T), Windows Vista Business operating system. Its battery offers up to 3.5-hours.
Mobile Intelligent Ubiquitous (MIU) introduces the next generation of its Hybrid Dual Portable Computer (HDPC). This portable gadget boasts a 4.1 inch TFT display (800 x480 resolution), a 2.4 inch AMOLED internal display (320 x 240 resolution), ARM processor for menial tasks, Intel Atom processor, Windows CE operating system and DMB navigation capability. The 3rd generation HDPC will be released in the Korean market for $500.
Direct From Japan (DFJ) has joined with Aigo to begin sell the new Atom-based P8860 MID. DFJ is actually the first official reseller that sells this 4.8-inch slider UMPC. The gadget retails for $699.
Wibrain unveiled its new UMPC ‘i1′ that will feature variants of Silverthorne Atom processor (1.1Ghz CPU and a 1.3Ghz version) and a built-in HSDPA module. It will be available with optional 30GB, and 60GB drive, and also SSD memory up to 64GB! The Wibrain touchpad is known for its exceptional split keyboard that offers quick URL and password entry. Wibrain claims it has 6-hour browsing time on the standard battery. Expected to hit retail in October.
Fujitsu has developed a palm-sized computer called the U810 (or U1010). This UMPC can be docked into a docking station with an external display and keyboard to get a true desktop experience. The U810 adopts an Intel A110 processor and provides an LCD screen with 1024×600 resolution, Intel TBD video graphics, 945GU Express chipset, and 1GB DDR2 RAM. Other features include a 1.8-inch 4200rpm hard drive, a/b/g wireless, Bluetooth, fingerprint reader, QWERTY keyboard, webcam, and Windows Vista operating system. It will be available from September with a starting price of $1000.
Raon Digital’s Everun Ultra Portable PC comes with HSDPA wireless connection for surfing, SMS and Voice. The gadget is powered by an AMD Geode LX900 featuring 600MHz of processing power and provides a QWERTY keypad, and 4.8″ 16.7 million colors Wide VGA LCD screen. Its high-capacity Lithium Ion batteries offers battery life of up to 12 hours. Everun adopts advanced wireless technology including HSDPA, WIMAX (802.16e Wibro), WiFi and Bluetooth.
Both Q1U-CMXP and Q1UP-V are very light, small and slim, weighing less than 2 lbs. They support all PC application wherever you go. The official presentation of the new rugged UMPC from Panasonic – TOUGHBOOK CF-U1 based on the new processor Intel Atom took place in Japan. It was previously shown at the exhibition CeBIT 2008 in Hanover. Unlike the German, where the UMPC was on the stand without the detailed characteristics, the Japanese showing of CF-U1 appeared in full working order.

Like the LUKID of Korea we may or may not see this new UMPC from Poland called Aristo Pico 640 hitting the international market. But it still worthwhile to feature this here at Eee PC Blog, because after all it still is and could be an Eee PC competitor.
Actually the Aristo Pico 640 follows the announcement of another UMPC in the same line, the Aristo Pico 740, and in fact the Aristo Pico 640 is a toned down version of the Aristo Pico 740, and so we heard.

That’s right! Dell E is the official name for the Dell mini Inspiron. This mini laptop features a 8.9 inch display and comes with the price tag of $299. The UMPC also offers a choice of Windows XP home of Ubuntu Linux, 8-in-1 card reader, integrated webcam, direct media playback buttons and various wireless access options.
Intel showed off its new concept UMPC at 2007 Computex in Taipei. Dubbed as Donley, the concept features a 5 inch touchscreen display that swivels, integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity and wireless WAN. The device also runs Windows Vista.
The Samsung Q1 UMPC sports a 7-inch touchscreen display (1024 x 600), 60GB HDD, 1.3MP shooter, secondary 0.3MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11a/b/g WLAN, HSDPA, and WiBro.
