Toshiba is at it again with the the Dynabook SS MX. The beast packs an Intel Core Duo T2300 (1.66GHz) CPU, 80GB hard drive, 512MB of RAM, DVD Super Multi drive, and a 4-in-1 memory card reader. Built-in with a biometric fingerprint sensor you can rest assure that your data is secure, and its bright 12.1-inch WXGA display is perfect for watching DVDs. Other external interfaces include three USB 2.0 ports, a Type 2 PC Card slot, and IEEE 1394 (4 pins) FireWire. Weighing at 4.2-pounds, Toshiba will release the SS MX later this month, priced at $1,773.

Panasonic has upgraded the Y5 notebook with fingerprint sensor for added security. Measuring 309.6mm × 245.5mm × 28 – 44.5mm and weighing at 3.3-pounds, the laptop also offers a 1.50-GHz Intel Core Duo L2300 low-voltage edition CPU, 512MB of memory, 60GB hard drive, DVD Super Multi drive, and a bright 14-inch SXGA+ display. More specs include two USB 2.0 ports, Type 2 PC card slot, 802.11 a/b/g WLAN, and VGA-out.

Asus will be releasing the new Z37S notebook which supports an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and NVIDIA mobile GPU technology, has a built-in 2.0 Mega-Pixel rotating webcam, an e-SATA connector and a 4-in-1 card reader (MMC/ SD/ Memory Stick/ MS Pro). The Z37S allows users to simultaneously have working bluetooth peripherals on their system such as mice, keyboards, headsets, and mobile phones along with security features like a built-in fingerprint scanner that reads from the live layer of the skin, so the scanner wont be put off by skin surface conditions.

The Flybook VM notebook computer features a unique telescoping arm that can raise the 12.1-inch LCD screen over the keyboard at almost any angle. It is powered by an Intel ULV Core Duo 1.06 GHz (U2400) processor, 2GB RAM, 60GB hard drive and integrated dual-layer DVD burner. The 12.1 Inch display is a wide-aspect 1280×768 TFT. Other specs include Bluetooth 2.0, wireless 802.11 a/b/g, fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, microphone, ExpressCard/54, and camera which is great for Skype videoconferencing.

TG Sambo will be dropping a new laptop called the 8400 Averatec. It comes with a widescreen LCD display, ATI’s Mobility Radeon HD2400 video card, a flexible keyboard, a larger touchpad and is powered by AMD’s dual core processor. Look for this Korea-only notebook for $1320.

According to analyst Shaw Wu, Apple may sell new Macbooks with Flash memory. These new Apple notebooks will be known as sub-notebooks and will have a stripped down version of Apple’s current operating system. It is probably to facilitate the smaller storage space as a result of switching to Flash memory only. Flash memory based notebooks provides a faster boot time, better battery life (less moving parts) and less chances of data loss as the hard drive has no moving parts.

Taiwanese Acer has decided to release the Aspire 5920G-932G25 in the Japanese market. The 15.4-inch wide laptop is based on Intel’s Penryn platform and comes equipped with 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo T9500, 250GB HDD and 2GB RAM. The desktop replacement also provides 1,280 x 800 WXGA resolution, 1.3MP webcam and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. The Acer 5920G will be available on 6th March 2008 for around $1,645.

Lenovo has recently released the new ThinkPad X300 13.3 Inch notebook. Weighing at only 2.9 pounds, the laptop features a number of leading technologies including solid-state drive storage, a LED backlit display, enhanced wireless connectivity, an integrated 7-millimeter slim dual layer DVD burner, WWAN, built-in GPS and fingerprint reader. The ThinkPad X300 retails for $2,548.

Acer released in Japan new notebook with a rather difficult name AS5520-7A1G16 which will cost not so much – only $930.

Fujitsu has released the LED-based ultra portable notebook. Dubbed as the P7230, the notebook comes in black and white colors and weights only 2.9 pounds. Other Features includes a 10.6 inch LCD widescreen, an up to 2GB RAM, Intel’s energy-efficient Core Solo U1400 processor, a memory card slot, and a shock-mounted hard drive. The price tag starts from $1,699 upwards depending on the configuration.


Acer will release a new notebook in Japan called the AS5520-7A1G16. It features a 15.4-inch screen and a 1,280 x 800 WXGA resolution. It runs on AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor and has 1GB memory and 160GB HDD. Acer has released it in Japan for USD$930.
Lenovo company is going to release new ultra-light notebook ThinkPad X300. At this time, there is no information about the date when this model will enter the market, as well as its prices. However, some specifications of the new Lenovo laptop are already known.
ThinkPad X300 will be equipped with a 13.3″ LCD display with LED light with a high (for such diagonal) resolution – 1400×900 dots. Series of notebooks from the company Lenovo (under the symbol X) is positioned as rather powerful portable devices. All models in the series are equipped with 12.1″ displays (except X300). Based on the value of existing models in this series, it can be assumed that the price of ThinkPad X300 will be about $2500-2700.

Asus has introduced the M51 series. The M51 is used for digital media and will be include the Nvidia GeForce 9500M GS video card and an Intel CPU Penryn processor. It features a 15.4-inch screen, a WSXGA resolution and a built-in 1.3 Megapixel Swivel Webcam, 3 models: a high-end model, Asus M51SN with Intel processors Penryn, and two cheaper models, Asus M51Sr and M51Se.

NEC offers their new high end notebook, the LaVie C LC950/HJ, which is Windows Vista compatible. Powered by a 2GHz Core 2 Duo T7200, this notebook provides a Blu-Ray player, an HDMI port, a Radeon X1600 graphic card, and a 15.4 inch display with a 1280×800 resolution.

There’s not much to say about the Sony Vaio SZ pc’s right now accept that it’s now available in 5 different colors for the top so you can now choose 8 different body colors for you laptop. It’s not all that significant, but it sure is cool to personalize you laptop.

Toshiba now has an alternative to notebook’s with the U305-S2804 for about $950. It comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5450, 1.67GHz, 160GB (5400 RPM) SATA HDD, and Intel WiFi a/b/g. But it’s predecessor, the U305-S2812 for 1,150.
Asus has announced the release of their notebook called the U2E. It features a 32GB SSD making it shock-resistant, a high-res webcam combined into the LCD and the ASUS SmartLogon software which uses face recognition security.
