John Kelly, IBM’s SVP and Director of Research, explained during a press briefing in Capitol Hill that computers are increasingly becoming bio-inspired.  As we learned, that was the main reason for deciding to build a supercomputer that will consume less than the 85 kilowatts of electricity that Watson required. For your information, the human brain utilizes only 20 watts of electric current. So, this new computer system will compete with us in terms cognitive capability and conservative use of electricity.

If you’re expecting to behold this new computer with artificial brain this year or next, you’d be disappointed. It’s still a work-in-progress, and International Business machines (IBM) is collaborating with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The company forecasts the project will be completed within the next ten years.

Check out this futuristic e-folder concept by Tryi Yeh. This ultra slim e-folder ‘MAC Folder’ is equipped with a touch screen display, a large-button keyboard, two built-in speakers, MAC operating system, Bluetooth and wireless LAN. Unfortunately, it’s just a concept at this stage, but who knows it might come into production someday, we’ll see!

LG has unveiled an innovative “e-book” laptop concept, which features an OLED display and is powered by an awesome “bubbly blue methyl alcohol fuel” instead of a boring lithium-ion battery. This laptop concept has just won a “best of the best” Red Dot Award, a German prize for industrial design.

Designer Mac Funamizu comes back with a new Mac mini design that is inspired by the super slim MacBook Air. I hope Apple will make this concept in to a reality.

Here is the latest laptop concept from IBM that is perfect for secret agents. Designed by Nicolas Lehotzky, the laptop has a security knob, hidden USB ports, and a built-in paper shredder to destroy documents during espionage activities.

This MacBook Pro 24-karat gold plated case was designed by Computer Shoppers. It comes with the encrusted Apple logo with diamonds.

Intel showed off its new concept UMPC at 2007 Computex in Taipei. Dubbed as Donley, the concept features a 5 inch touchscreen display that swivels, integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity and wireless WAN. The device also runs Windows Vista.

Here is the latest MacBook concept laptop that comes equipped with touch-sensitive displays. The concept is integrated with a full touch-sensitive keypad, which looks somewhat like the Apple MacBook Air.

This concept comes jam packed with a 13-inch LED display, iPhone compatibility, and an external SuperDrive.

Samsung 12.1 Inch AMOLED Laptop Concept comes equipped with a keyboard that has a similar keys on a mobile phone. This thin laptop concept features a thin AMOLED display with 1,280 x 768 display resolution. However, AMOLED displays are still expensive. I’m sure this desktop replacement will be expensive.

Designed by Yann Le Coroller, the MacTablet concept comes jam packed with a detachable keyboard that doubles as a protective cover. There is no word yet on the release date.

Here is a new wooden concept laptop from Fujitsu. However, there is no word on specs at this time.

This is the Million Dollar Laptop from Luvaglio, a London based company. It seems that laptop would be shaped out of pricey metals and encrusted with diamonds and other precious jewelry. The specs are still unknown.
