Hewlett-Packard is going to release the HP Slate, a 8.9-inch tablet device with Intel’s Atom CPU and Windows 7 Home operating system with a custom user interface.
The iPad competitor includes the Intel Atom Z530 processor at 1.6GHz, integrated graphics chip and an accelerator for 1080p video playback, 32GB or 64GB of Flash storage space, and 1GB of non-upgradeable RAM.
The tablet’s display uses capacitive multitouch technology and has a resolution of 1024×600-pixels.
HP’s Slate also sports dual web cameras, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, optional 3G modem, single USB port, an SDHC slot, an HDMI port, and a 2-cell battery for 5 hours of run time.
Unlike the iPad, the Slate supports Adobe Flash.
