AIS has expanded its rugged tablet PC range with the all new AIS 10.4-inch Rugged Tablet PC. Featuring an aluminum-magnesium alloy construction with individually sealed ports, this tablet PC is specially designed for operating in generally extreme conditions and meets the military’s MIL-STD 810F standards for shock, vibration and drop resistance. The system itself is equipped with a 10.4-inch touch-sensitive sunlight readable LCD display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, up to 2GB RAM, a shock-mounted removable hard drive or compact flash, GPS, WiFi, WWAN, Bluetooth and a 6-cell battery. Price starts at $1,499.

Samsung Readies Ultra-Thin X520 Notebook

Samsung is getting ready to unleash its new ultra-thin and light notebook, the Samsung X520. Based on the Intel’s Consumer Low Voltage (CULV) platform, the new X520 features a 15.6-inch display with 1366 x 768 resolution, a 1.3GHz Core 2 Solo SU2700 CPU, a 4GB RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a 1.3MP webcam, a 3-in-1 card reader, WiFi, Bluetooth, an HDMI output, a 6-cell battery and Windows Vista Home Premium OS. No details on pricing and release date yet, but according to some sources it will cost around €699 ($1,004).

Twelve South has recently announced the BookArc, which is a metal stand designed to hold any Apple MacBook, from MacBook Air to the 17-inch MacBook Pro. The stand is designed to free up desk space by allowing the MacBook to operate in a vertical position. The BookArc is currently available at the Apple Store and retails for $49.99. A BookArc “six-pack” geared towards design studios and Mac-based offices is being offered at a bundled discount price of $249.99.

Nokia Booklet 3G Netbook

Nokia will release their first 10-inch netbook namely the Nokia Booklet 3G. The netbook features an Intel Atom processor with an “HD ready” LCD display, an integrated A-GPS, Ovi Maps software, and HDMI out. The Nokia Booklet 3G also has a built in 3G/HSPA and Wi-Fi that will provide high speed Internet access on the go. Its battery provides up to 12-hours of operation time, which is impressive. Nokia will provide more details on the Nokia Booklet 3G Netbook on September 2nd, 2009 at Nokia World.

HP Japan is out with another one of its low-end business notebook PC for the Japanese market. Dubbed as the Compaq 610, the system is powered by a 1.86GHz Intel Celeron T1500 processor and features a 15.6-inch wide LCD screen with 1366 x 768 resolution, an Intel GLE960 Express chipset, a 1GB RAM, a 160GB HDD, a DVD Super Multi-Drive, three USB 2.0 ports and Windows XP Professional OS. The HP Compaq 610 retails for 65,100 Yen (about $691).

The laptop comes jam packed with a 15.4-inch with a 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution, a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 CPU, an nVidia GeForce 966M GS with 512MB of VRAM, a 4GB of DDR2 SDRAM, a 500 GB of SATA HDD, a DVD Super Multi, WiFi and HDMI out. Weighing at only 2.7kg, the Prime Note Galleria GS comes with a battery that provides enough juice for around 2.6-hours of operation time.

Asus Eee PC 1005HA

Currently available in black, white, blue and pink color options, Asus will soon add a new color ‘Silver’ to its Eee PC 1005HA netbook series. This new model is due out in Japan starting next month. As for now, it’s available for preview from Japanese retailer Kakaku for 47,700 Yen (about $509).

The Acer Aspire 1410 is now available in the US market via Cost Central. This 11.6-inch ultraportable laptop was formerly known as the Aspire Timeline 1810T. Cost Central provides the sapphire blue Aspire 1410-8414 model that features a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 ultra-low voltage processor, an Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, a 1366×768 LED-backlight display, a 2GB of DDR2 RAM (upgradeable to 4GB), a 250GB hard drive, and a 6-cell battery providing “up to 6 hours” of operation time. Sadly, the 1410 doesn’t have a built-in optical drive, so you should buy an external DVD player in order to play DVD movies on this laptop. Other features include a built-in webcam, stereo speakers, HDMI, VGA, and SPDIF outputs, 802.11n WiFi, a Gigabit Ethernet port, three USB ports, and a 5-in-1 media card reader. Acer’s Aspire 1410-8414 retails for around $460.

MSI will soon introduce a new version of their upcoming 12.1-inch MSI Wind U200 notebook, the MSI Wind U210, in Europe. The U210 will feature a 12.1-inch display with 1366 x 768 resolution, a 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 CPU, an ATI Mobility Radeon X1250 graphics card, up to 2GB RAM, up to 250GB hard disk, a webcam, WiFi, 10/100 Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth, a 6-cell battery and a choice of either Windows XP Home or Windows Vista Home Premium. The MSI Wind U210 Notebook will be sold for 399 Euro (about $568) upwards, depending on the specs.

Prolink Releases Its 10.1-inch Netbook

Prolink is best known for making networking hardware. The company today released its first 10.1-inch netbook, the Prolink Glee TA-009, which is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, an internal HSUPA modem, and a 3 cell battery. It has a small touchpad with the left and right buttons pushed to the left and right sides instead of below the touchpad. Each Glee TA-009 retails for about $468 (after conversion).
