The BenQ Joybook R45 has been officially released. It comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1GHz processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G graphics card, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB 5400RPM Hard Drive, a Dual Layer DVD Super-Multi Drive, a 14.1″ WXGA (1280×800) Widescreen, 2.0-Megapixel Webcam, Wireless LAN, bluetooth, 4-in-1 card reader, and Windows Vista.
Germany’s Cizmo will be dropping a new Centrino 2 laptop called the CX15. It features either a P8400, P8600, or P9400 Core 2 Duo processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX graphics, DDR3 RAM, optional Blu-ray drive, an eSATA port, and a 32GB or 64GB SSD drive. The CX15 should hit Europe the beginning of June for €1,499 or a bit over $2,400.
From Germany’s Fukato Datacask Jupiter, the Asus Eee PC takes on another challenger. This time coming from the seat of Asian technology in Japan with Kohjinsha’s SA5KXO8AL and SA5KXO8FL.
Both notebooks boast of a preloaded Windows XP Home Edition for OS. Here are the technical details of the two Japanese Asus Eee PC rival:
The SA5KXO8AL has an SRP of arpund $591 while the SA5KXO8FL will sell for around $787.
Fukato will be releasing their new Datacask laptop. It comes in black and white and features an 8-inch, 800 x 480 display, a 500MHz AMD Geode CPU, a 20GB 60GB hard drive, 512MB of RAM, and a Linux-based OS. Look for this cheap laptop on European shelves in May for €279 or $440.
The Lamborhini VX 1 comes with 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, a 120GB HDD, dual-layer DVD±R/RW burning, and a NVidia GeForce Go 7400 GPU with 256MB of memory. Its 15-inch display features 1400 x 1050 which is said to be good. Like most good-looking things this is the case where the price follows the name, this sleek looking laptop will cost $3267 USD. With a release date of the end of April this laptop will hopefully be available through the Asus channels along with Lamborghini’s online and retail outlets.
Panasonic will release the tablet PC-like rugged PDA device on May 15th, 2007. Known as the ToughBook CF-08, the gadget comes with 10.4-inch touch-sensitive 1024 x 768 display, Intel PXA270 processor at 312MHz, 64MB RAM and 64MB ROM memory, up to 14 hours of battery life and Windows CE 5.0. The tablet is water resistant and capable of withstanding a fall from as high as 1.2-meters. The gadget’s display is using an Anti-Reflection technology for easy outdoors use. In addition, the ToughBook CF-08 has 802.11b/g wireless, Ethernet LAN and Bluetooth 1.2 and comes with USB 1.1 port. Unfortunately, there is no word on slot for an additional flash memory data storage device.
Samsung will be releasing an new Aura model called the R410. It features a 14.1-inch, 1,280 x 800 display, 45nm Penryn CPUs, ATI Radeon Xpress 1250M graphics, a DVD burner, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, built-in WiFi and bluetooth, and a welcome ExpressCard slot. The R410 is going for about £499 or $1,000. The Aura R410 will hit Europe in May.
Sony’s new ultraportable 12.1-inch VAIO G is powered by a 1.06GHz Intel Core Solo U1300 or a 1.2GHz U1400 processor, up to 1.5GB of DDR2 memory, 80GB HDD, and a DVD burner. The laptop comes equipped with a 12.1-inch 1024 x 768 display, two USB 2.0-ports, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, and a biotmetric fingerprint reader.
Sharp and Willcom have recently released the Willcom D4 or WSO16H UMPC. Weighing at only 470grams and measuring 84mm x 188mm x25.9mm, the gadget features with 1Gb of RAM, 40GB of HDD, a Centrino Atom Z520 (1.33GHz), a 5 inch Touch screen (1024×600) LCD with LED Backlight, Wifi B/G and Bluetooth 2.0 EDR. This portable gadget also has a 2MP Video Camera and runs on Windows Vista Home Premium OS.
Sharp and Willcom has unveiled a new UMPC that has the potential to make it big in the market. Welcome the Willcom D4 aka WSO16H. Akihabara news has got the scoop on the new UMPC.
The Willcom D4 UMPC weighs only 470g and measures 84X188X25.9 mm. It’s got 1GB of RAM, 40GB of HDD, running on Centrino Atom Z520 (1.33 GHz), 5″ touch scree (1024×600) LCD with LED backlight, full keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, 2 mp video camera and has Windows Vista Home Premium for its OS.
The new Airis Kira 100 which is released in Europe definitely looks almost the same but in different colors. Just like the Asus Eee PC, the Airis Kira 100 is a low-cost ultraportable notebook with an SRP of only around $472.
The Airis Kira 100 has a 7-inch 800×480 pixel display, 1GHz VIA C7 processor, 512 RAM, 2GB internal HD, VGA output, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 56 kbps modem, SD/MMC/MS/CF card reader, webcam, 4 hour battery life (wow!), Linux lite OS and weighs only 1kg.
The “Type L” series will feature a transparent chasis. The models will include 15.4 inch/19 inch display, Core Duo T2300 (1.66GHz)/Celeron M 420 (1.60 GHZ) processor, 512MB of Ram, 80/200 GB harddrive, DVD Super Multi drive, and an analog TV tuner. Some of the other features are its 3.1 megapixel webcam, analog TV tuner. Other perks include a 3.1-megapixel webcam, multi-format memory card reader, and four USB 2.0 ports. The price will start at $1,693.
Panasonic has upgraded the Y5 notebook with fingerprint sensor for added security. Measuring 309.6mm × 245.5mm × 28 – 44.5mm and weighing at 3.3-pounds, the laptop also offers a 1.50-GHz Intel Core Duo L2300 low-voltage edition CPU, 512MB of memory, 60GB hard drive, DVD Super Multi drive, and a bright 14-inch SXGA+ display. More specs include two USB 2.0 ports, Type 2 PC card slot, 802.11 a/b/g WLAN, and VGA-out.
Here is a new wooden concept laptop from Fujitsu. However, there is no word on specs at this time.
Asus will be releasing the new Z37S notebook which supports an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and NVIDIA mobile GPU technology, has a built-in 2.0 Mega-Pixel rotating webcam, an e-SATA connector and a 4-in-1 card reader (MMC/ SD/ Memory Stick/ MS Pro). The Z37S allows users to simultaneously have working bluetooth peripherals on their system such as mice, keyboards, headsets, and mobile phones along with security features like a built-in fingerprint scanner that reads from the live layer of the skin, so the scanner wont be put off by skin surface conditions.
LG Korea has announced the availability of the X400 series laptops in Korea. Available in blue and white, the laptop comes jam packed with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor at 1.73 Ghz, 1GB DDR2 memory, 120 GB hard drive, ATI Mobility Radeon X2300, and 14.1 inch widescreen display. The LG X-Note X400 series is available only in Korea.
Check out the new Acer Aspire 9800. With a fairly large 20.1″ 1680×1050 LCD screen, this laptop will sure make a good multimedia station. Using Core Duo processor this laptop also features a dual hard drives that can reach up to 240GB. For gamers the laptops stores NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 256MB graphics card. Other key things are its integrated TV tuner, VoIP Bluetooth phone, and others. Although it is currently available in Europe, we will have to wait to get our hands on this laptop. Price is set at $2500.
This Qosmio laptop is the world’s 1st laptop to feature an HD-DVD drive. Hewlett-Packard will release the highly anticipated HP 2133 Mini-Note PC. Priced at around $500, this UMPC features VIA C7-M ULV processor (1GHz to 1.6GHz), Chrome 9 integrated graphics, and supports up to 2GB of DDR2 667MHz main memory. This 8.9 inch ultra portable laptop also provides up to 160GB of hard drive storage, an optional 64GB solid-state drive or 4GB Flash drive, an optional web camera, built-in stereo speakers and microphones, the Broadcom 802.11a/b/g or b/g wireless module, optional Bluetooth 2.0, a Gigabit Ethernet connection, two USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, Secure Digital (SD) slot, and a VGA output. Its battery provides up to 2 hours and 15 minutes of battery life with the standard 3-cell battery, and 4 hours and 11 minutes with the 6-cell extended life battery. Sony Korea has announced its Sony VGN-AR38L laptop. Priced at approximately $4300, it comes jam packed with a 17-inch wide display, HDMI terminal, 2GB 240GB hard drive of the DDR2 memory, audio storehouse output terminal of 5.1 Channel and an external speaker.
