DRS has some laptops that don’t mind taking a beating called the ARMOR C12 convertible featuring a 12.1-inch outdoor readable touchscreen, 1.2GHz ULV U1400 CPU, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, a 60GB shock-mounted HDD, full-sized keyboard, integrated wifi, ethernet, PCMCIA, a biometric scanner and a die-cast magnesium case. Last, is the ARMOR X10 tablet featuring a 1.2GHz U2500 core duo processor, an optional 16GB SSD, 10.4-inch sunlight readable display, bluetooth.


HP Pavilion tx1000 tablet PC is now available for purchase at Hewlett-Packard’s site. It has a starting price of $1,299 with a 12.1-inch 1280×800 widescreen display, or $1,425 with touch-screen feature. The tablet PC boasts a 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 dual core processor, 1.8GHz or 2GHz clock speed, 1GB or 2GB of main memory, and with up to 200GB SATA hard drive at 4200rpm. The company is also offered smaller 80GB, 100GB and 160GB HDDs which are at 5400rpm. Other features include a DVD burner and NVIDIA GeForceGo 6150, wireless LAN, Gigabit Ethernet, a 56k modem, and an optional Bluetooth. Weighing 4.2 lbs, it comes with Windows Vista Home Premium, Vista Business or Vista Ultimate Edition OS.

The Dreamcom 10 series laptop has made its appearance at the CeBIT 08 and maybe the most unique of laptops. Dreamcom 10 series has a vertically adjustable LCD as well as a docking station to avoid using a cramped keyboard. Along with a 2.2GHz T7500 processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a couple of USB 2.0 ports, expresscard slot, 256MB ATI mobility radeon HD 2600, bluetooth / wifi and a 160GB hard drive. No word on how much this long-necked laptop goes for, but it shouldn’t matter all that much considering your neck wont be strained after using this laptop.

The Gigabyte M700 UMPC comes equipped with a 7inch touchscreen display (1024×600). The gadget is powered by 1.2Ghz C7-M Via processor, 2GB RAM, 40GB to 60GB of hard drive, and Windows Vista Home Premium operating system.

Everex’s 15.4-inch VA1500V is now at NewEgg and features a 1.5GHz VIA C7-M processor, WXGA+ (1,440 x 900) resolution panel, half a gig of DDR2 RAM, a 60GB 5400RPM hard drive, DVD combo drive and a lackluster integrated graphics set. Other features include a gOS v2 “Rocket” operating system, an ethernet port, 802.11b/g WiFi, three USB ports, VGA out, audio in / out and a 3-cell Li-ion for a low price of $399.99. Either this is a good deal or too good to be true.

The Estari DC15 Dual Touchscreen Laptop comes packed with a 1.83GHz Intel dual core processor, 2 GB RAM, 60-100 GB HDD, USB and Wi-Fi support, 2.5 hours battery life, and a 15 inch widescreen monitor… or should i say 2 monitors because the unique feature of the DC15 is that it’s a dual touchscreen laptop shaped like a briefcase, one of the touchscreens is able to function as a keyboard. It’s physically heavy at 5.9kg (~15 lbs), but that’s not as heavy as the price tag: $4350.


BestBuy offers the 14.1-inch widescreen Acer Aspire AS3680-2022 laptop with Windows Vista Basic OS for just $499.99. The laptop boasts a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron M 420 processor, 512MB of DDR2 memory, 80GB hard drive, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive and features an integrated Intel’s Graphics Media Accelerator 950, and High Definition Audio. This low priced Vista-powered laptop also provides 802.11b/g wireless, 56k modem, PCMCIA Card Slot, three USB ports, a 5-in-1 card reader, a VGA output and S-Video TV-out and LAN connections.

Dell will be dropping a new laptop called the Latitude XFR D630. The D630 is capable of working in the most extreme temperatures, moisture, and altitudes, with support for solid state drives, traditional hard drives thanks to the shock-isolated mounting, a sealed keyboard protecting it from rain and dust, along with 500 nits of brightness and an optional integrated resistive touch screen technology. It looks like you’ll be paying a high price of $3,899 and beyond depending on configuration.

Taiwanese Acer has decided to release the Aspire 5920G-932G25 in the Japanese market. The 15.4-inch wide laptop is based on Intel’s Penryn platform and comes equipped with 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo T9500, 250GB HDD and 2GB RAM. The desktop replacement also provides 1,280 x 800 WXGA resolution, 1.3MP webcam and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. The Acer 5920G will be available on 6th March 2008 for around $1,645.

Motion Computing is dropping a semi-rugged medical PC tablet called the F5. It is IP54-compliant (dust, water, shock and temperature resistant), has a 1.2GHz Intel Centrino U1400 processor, 10.4-inch XGA (1,024 x 768) display, 40GB HDD, built-in 802.11a/b/g and bluetooth, WWAN (EV-DO) support and a 2-megapixel camera along with an optional barcode reader, integrated RFID reader / passive tag, a biometric scanner, three USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, VGA output and a battery with a life of 3.5 hours. Look for the F5 at a whopping $2,699 to $4,000.

Samsung has just announced that they will be dropping another basic laptop called the P200. It comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, an ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 graphics card, a 12.1″ display, 1.3 megapixel webcam,bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, and a 6-in-1 memory card reader. Be prepared to pay an average retail price of $1,500.
